Scenic Walks In And Around Bury

Burrs Country Park Circuit
At Burrs Country Park Circuit you can see the East Lancashire Railway at the edge of the park and discover the River Irwell running through. Simply wander around the park at your leisure and enjoy its natural beauty. If you’re looking for more of a challenge, try the Irwell Sculpture Trail which covers a long distance from Salford to the West Pennine Moors.

This route is a little challenging but worth it for the reward. Once you climb Holcombe Hill, you may get the chance to climb Peel Tower. At the top you will get stunning views of Ramsbottom and, if the skies are clear, Manchester, Cheshire and even the North of Wales.

Nuttall Park
Nuttall Park sits as part of the Irwell Sculpture Trail we mentioned earlier. There is a trail running down one side of the park alongside the River Irwell. Nuttall Park is easy to walk around and to use a wheelchair or pushchair. A great place to take your dog too!

Prestwich Forest Park
A little further to go than the rest but this is by far the biggest park you can visit near Red Hall Hotel. It has over 500 acres to be explored and will suit just about any length of walk that you’d like to do. The River Irwell and Bradley Brook flow through the area which consists of Drinkwater Park, Philips Park, Prestwich Clough and Waterdale.
